Recent Article  (Link above) talks about platform based BPO’s and offering a pricing model for ‘per use’ or transaction based model.  Infosys as are it’s competitors all talking about building platform based BPO although the adoption of a platform based BPO model has been slow from a client perspective. Cloud Computing and Software as a Service (SaaS) models although offer a better delivery model to offer platform based BPO services.

This model will still take time to become a standard in contracts. Interestingly, a number of contracts do have an ambitious clause in there where there is a path to move to managed services or outcome based pricing but those rarely follow the path they are designated to go.

What cloud computing does offer outsourcing firms  is to target smaller firms. Similarly for smaller firms the right platform based BPO or cloud computing model offers a viable option to leverage outsourcing.
