Telecom growth in India driving domestic BPO growth

Interesting article in Economic Times on how the domestic telecom growth is fueling the growth of domestic BPO operations in India. Looks like the Telecom growth engine in India continues to move along. Banking and Telecom contribute to 80% of domestic BPO revenues in India. Customer care, marketing are the largest service areas.
According to a recent study by E&Y on Indian domestic markets outsourcing revenues will grow at 31% per year growing to $ 2 billion by year 2012.
Telecom companies in India adding subscriber at the rate of 10 million per month. That is an outstanding rate.
Subscriber base in India for telecom at 375 million for 2008-09.
Telecom revenues make up 50% of domestic BPO operations in India. Domestic BPO revenues in India of $661 million.
BPO for telecom is also a huge job creator, employing over 1,22,440 people in BPO firms in 2008 — a number that is set to more than double to 2,94,444 in 2012.
