mPhasis Q2 2009 earnings up by 52.3% and net income up 219%

Looks like mPhasis has benefited from a change in leadership and acquisition by EDS.

Mphasis Group has declared an increase of 3.19 times in the net profit for the three month period ended April 30, 2009.

The BPO and KPO service provider said that its net profit during the second quarter stood at Rs 2,245 million as compared to Rs 703 million during the corresponding period of the lat year (April 2008).

The company’s consolidated revenues stood at Rs 10,485 million, a rise of 52.30% over during the same quarter last year.

Mphasis also registered a growth of more than three-fold to Rs 434.5 crore for the half year ended April 30, 2009, as against Rs 127.1 crore during the first half of the previous fiscal.

During the first half, the company’s revenue increased 55.1% to Rs 2,026.1 crore.

Ganesh Ayyar, Mphasis CEO said, “This has been a good quarter in a tough environment. Customer centricity and operational excellence has been our focus.”

The company said that it added 14 new customers’ clients during the second quarter comprising a big airline in US, a North American clothing retail chain and a worldwide leader in communication systems.

It has also added 3,822 people net during the quarter and the Group headcount stood at 33,810 as on April 30, 2009.
