HCL Technologies has bagged an outsourcing services contract from MTV Networks (MTVN) in the US, for online media platform development.

Though HCL Tech did not divulge the size of the order, its Senior Director, Mr Srirama Srinivasan, said the contract covered various brands of MTV Networks, including MTV, VH1, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon.

“Currently these programmes can be viewed on TV as well as on the PC (personal computer) through MTV.com…. HCL will develop the underlying technology that enables viewers to watch programmes online. So far, MTVN was doing it in-house.”

The contract enables MTVN in managing technology-led solutions in digital content creation, media asset management, community networking and cross-brand programming. HCL will do application development and maintenance in MTVN’s online space.
