National Grid “plans to offshore some HR jobs to India”

The public sector firms in the UK seem to be looking more towards offshoring.. There was the recent news about TCS winning the contract to work with the UK Child Maintenance and Enforcement Office (LINK)
National Grid is considering offshoring 182 jobs to India, including HR roles at its Newcastle based payroll department, the GMB has claimed.
The trade union said yesterday that National Grid intends to close its Tyneside office – incorporating purchasing, invoicing and payroll departments – to India, but this morning a company spokesman told HR magazine that a final decision had not been made.
