International auto supplier Continental inaugurates technical centre in Bangalore

International automotive supplier, Continental on Wednesday inaugurated its new technical facility at Bommanahalli, Bangalore. The centre has been set up to develop automotive technology and provide software services for Continental Automotive Group.

Inaugurating the facility, Continental India Technical Centre Head, Mr Gunnar Juergens said, “The approach consists of a captive development centre of Continental and offshore development centres which are operated by our engineering partners. Our partne s in India are Siemens Information Systems Limited, KPIT Cummins Infosystems Limited and Wipro.”

The centre’s activities include development and testing of engine management systems to reduce fuel consumption and emissions of engines, development of digital tachographs and telematics systems to optimize fleets of commercial vehicles and public trans port systems such as the London Bus system.

Continental India employs 600 engineers and eyes a growth of 20 per cent on year-on-year basis. – PTI
