Mohit Soapbox:
What I find interesting in the article is the number of suppliers EADS supposedly had previously - 2000 and that it has narrowed it down to 24 suppliers. If it is not the negotiated rates the sheer volume of program management cost of managing 2000 vendors should reduce cost for EADS

Software firm HCL
Technologies Ltd said on Thursday that European aerospace group EADS had chosen it as a tier-one engineering and technical publication services supplier.

EADS spends about 2 billion euros ($3.15 billion) a year on engineering services, including research, modelling, flight physics and design, HCL Tech said in a statement that did not mention its specific gain. The services would be delivered via EADS’ India design centre in Bangalore, HCL Tech said.

EADS in May picked 28 preferred and strategic suppliers, four Indian and 24 EU-based firms, from a previously existing pool of 2,000 suppliers in a move aimed at cost reductions.
