Keane layoff 400 employees in India

ARTICLE Keane might take six rounds of interviews to hire someone, but it can have them escorted from the premises in ten minutes. Sounds absurd but it’s true. Keane India, a US based IT service provider, terminated 400 employees on Monday. The lighting fast termination procedure has send tremors across its centres in Noida, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.

Though Keane isn’t keen to explain the reasons behind the job cuts, Economic Times reported a statement that came through a PR agency “the recent work force rationalization in our BPO and IT services business is related to further integration and aims to strengthen our operations our positions us for a stronger growth. Keane is committed to building a nimble and exceptionally high performing international workforce”.

It’s quite surprising that, even after six rounds of interviews, Keane could not make out whether the recruited staff were nimble or not, but the dismissal of 400 employees at one go will surely have people pointing fingers at Keane’s recruiting team.

No warning of the job cuts was given to the unlucky 400, which was not only a surprise to them, but also to college placement officials, who are also aghast. One ex-employee was quoted as saying: “they had at least six round of interviews on campus but the termination happened in ten minutes. They had all the formalities ready

One Response to “Keane layoff 400 employees in India”

  1. The reason behind this lay off of 400 employees is nothing but company inability to get new projects. In recent past company did not get any new project but lost existing big projects to it’s competitors (Infosys/Wipro). And new management is highly responsible for this situation as they do not have prior experience of running big company.

Since they do not have enough projects to accommodate people whom they hired recently (They hired around 500 fresher in last 10 months) even after major chunk of their existing employee left the company (after taken over by caritor). Around 50% of the Keane employees have already left Keane India in last 8-9 months.

Company management is just trying to set the inventory correct (by all hook and crook – No Project – No Employee and Cost cutting by all measures) even after loosing projects and people and now this action showed nothing but their inability to run business.

Still they are hiring people from campus interview (I heard that they hired 300 from Amity - Noida - is a private college) as they know that by doing campus they are creating market news and their value, as they know very wells that they need not to pay the new employees now, but after few months once they complete their college and even they have liability to not to give offer letter to new hires.

All fresher…PLEASE BEWARE OF KEANE INDIA PRACTIVE….

    Thanks
