IBM signs IT outsourcing deal with ProSiebenSat.1
European TV group ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG has signed a ten-year IT outsourcing deal with IBM worth over 200 million euros (£160 million).

The pan-European broadcaster said today that it would transfer 170 of its production staff to IBM and entirely digitise its infrastructure in the expectation of saving 50 million euros over the next ten years, according to Reuters.

Broadcasts will be run from London and Munich following the deal, which is part of the broadcaster’s plans to modernise.

ProSiebenSat.1 chief executive Guillaume de Posch said: “With this step we provide the basis for future growth and reduce our IT costs at the same time.”

A later statement published by Reuters added: “The aim of the transformation is to make the company faster and more flexible in the European media and entertainment market.”

IBM will take over IT infrastructure, software applications and internet technology as well as modernising advertising sales, scheduling and rights-management processes, reports the news provider.
